- Exhibition Highlights from My Visit
1. From Everyday Moments to Expansive Seascapes
Alice Dalton Brown’s early works capture the warmth of everyday life, from light reflected off toys at home to sunlight falling across a farmhouse roof. A turning point came in 1994, when Dalton Brown saw curtains billowing in the breeze through a friend’s window. Her later works drew inspiration from a cottage on Cayuga Lake. These works beautifully showcase the remarkable precision and delicacy of Dalton Brown’s oil painting technique.
2. Calming Light and Shadow (1F & B1)
The galleries on the first floor and basement level feature different wall colors, ranging from warm orange to muted purple and cool blue. Each color scheme complements the works and draws you further into the exhibition. The large paintings of the sea seen through white curtains billowing in the breeze are especially striking. The translucent fabric and gentle ripples are rendered with such realism that you may find yourself standing there for quite some time.
3. Visiting on the Weekend? Special Guided Tour Information
If you’re planning a weekend visit, consider timing your trip around one of the guided tours. Art Director Kim Jong-won leads a special program titled “The Man Who Reads Paintings.” The tour explores the artist’s childhood and the stories behind Dalton Brown’s use of light and space.
- - Days: Every Saturday and Sunday
- - Hours: Session 1 (1–2 PM) / Session 2 (4–5 PM)
- - Fee: KRW 10,000 per person (exhibition admission not included)
Before you leave, be sure to stop by the gift shop. You’ll find a selection of exhibition-related items, including postcards, fans, notebooks, and magnets. Let the exhibition stay with you a little longer.
The quiet mood of the works blends naturally with Ananti’s laid-back setting. It’s a peaceful place to slow down and take a break. For anyone looking for a different kind of exhibition or a date idea in Busan, it’s well worth a visit.
