Haeundae is one of Busan’s best-known destinations. Now, there’s a new way to explore this popular seaside destination. If you’re looking for something a bit more special on your trip to Busan, this is one to check out. Meet Soundwalking, one of Busan’s coastal wellness programs.
As part of the 2026 Busan Ocean Healing Program, it offers a form of sound meditation that brings you closer to nature through the soundscape of Dongbaekseom Island in Haeundae. You walk slowly and listen closely to your surroundings, going beyond simply observing the scenery.
The program provides you with a high-sensitivity microphone and headset, allowing you to pick up subtle sounds as you walk through Dongbaekseom Island. You’ll hear everything from waves rolling ashore and sand crunching underfoot to leaves rustling in the breeze and the sound of your own footsteps. The experience gives you time to slow down and focus on the sounds of nature. As you take in Busan’s scenery and notice sounds you might normally overlook, you can set aside distracting thoughts and simply be present in the moment.
The Dongbaekseom course starts at Haeundae Beach and takes you past some of Haeundae’s best-known landmarks, including APEC House and The Bay 101. Part of the appeal of Soundwalking is that it lets you experience familiar Haeundae in a whole new way.
The cooler fall weather makes it especially pleasant to walk around Dongbaekseom Island, where the sea meets the forest, and tune in to the sounds of nature. Starting in October, a special Igidae course will also be available, beginning at Dongsaengmal and continuing along the Igidae Coastal Trail. Along the trail, you can enjoy the beautiful views of Busan’s coastline.
Soundwalking offers something different from the usual Busan sightseeing experience. It gives you time to listen to nature, clear your mind, and reconnect with yourself. It’s especially worth trying if you’ve been to Busan before or are looking for a different way to experience the city.
