As you stroll through the soft, pink waves that look like cotton candy, it is easy to forget that you are in the heart of the city. The Eulsukdo Loop Trail, which runs along the river, is perfect for enjoying the lush scenery while taking in a refreshing breeze from the water. You can also rent a bicycle for free and have fun exploring the entire island on two wheels. Finding Serenity at One of the Three Great Temples of the Yeongnam Region on the Slopes of Geumjeongsan Mountain Beomeosa Temple Route After spending the morning enjoying the riverside breeze at Eulsukdo Island, continue on to Beomeosa Temple, nestled on the slopes of Geumjeongsan Mountain. Alongside Haeinsa and Tongdosa Temples, Beomeosa Temple is one of the three great temples of the Yeongnam region and has a history spanning nearly 1,500 years. As you pass through the Iljumun Gate and make your way toward Daeungjeon Hall, a canopy of shade created by old trees stretches along the path, bringing a sense of peace with every step. As autumn deepens, the mountain ridges surrounding the temple turn vibrant with fall foliage, adding a splash of color to the tranquil walking paths. Breathe into Festival | “Festivals in Full Swing” – Busan’s Festivals Continue Throughout October The Most Exciting Time, When the Riverside Comes Alive with Cheers 2026 Busan International Rock Festival From October 2 to 4, Korea’s longest-running rock festival will take over Samnak Ecological Park for three days. Since its launch in 2000, the festival has established itself as a premier event where top musicians and indie bands from Korea and abroad share the stage. Spread out a blanket on the vast riverside lawn and enjoy live music with the refreshing river breeze. The open-air setting offers a sense of freedom and spaciousness you simply cannot experience in an indoor concert venue. Busan Residents’ Top 3 Gukbap Restaurants Revealed for the First Time 2026 Busan Dwaeji Gukbap Grand Fair & Gukbap Showcase Busan’s first-ever participatory food festival dedicated to the city’s soul food, dwaeji gukbap (pork and rice soup), will be held this year, hosted by the Busan Tourism Organization. From September 28 to October 14, citizens will vote in person or through KakaoMap to select the top 10 and ultimately the top 3 restaurants from 20 selected gukbap restaurants. At the Gukbap Showcase, taking place at BIFC 2 from October 16 to 18, visitors can enjoy gukbap from participating vendors and watch live cooking shows. On October 17, the Gukbap Awards will be held to announce the results of the public vote. Curious about the authentic dwaeji gukbap restaurants that have earned the approval of Busan locals? Breathe into Scene | “Becoming a Scene” – Moments of Art Found on Screens and Streets Asia’s Leading Film Festival That Captures the Attention of Movie Lovers 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) From October 6 to 15, the 31st Busan International Film Festival, one of Asia’s largest film festivals, will take place. This year, BIFF further enhanced its international standing by receiving A-list film festival accreditation from the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), while the number of films selected for the competition section increased to 14. Director Kim Jong-kwan’s latest film, Day and Night to Each Other, has been selected as the opening film, kicking off the festival with its first screening at the Busan Cinema Center. Three Days When the Lawn Becomes a Stage Busan Street Arts Festival From October 3 to 5, Busan Citizens Park will be transformed into one giant open-air stage. At the Busan Street Arts Festival, buskers, circus performers, and mime artists from around the world will perform throughout the park’s lawns and walking paths. There are no designated seats and no admission fee. Simply enjoy the performances you happen to encounter as you stroll through the park. Breathe into Global | “Where the World Comes Together” – The Moment Startups and Trendsetters Converge in Busan The Heart of Asia’s Startup Ecosystem Unfolds in Busan Asia Startup Expo (Fly Asia) On October 7 and 8, BEXCO Exhibition Center 1 will be transformed into a hub for Asia’s startup ecosystem. Hosted by Busan Metropolitan City and the Busan Startup Investment Agency (BSIA), Asia Startup Expo (Fly Asia) is expected to bring together around 10,000 representatives from domestic and international startups, investors, and the startup ecosystem. Over two days, exhibitions, conferences, and networking programs will focus on connecting startups in the marine and AI sectors with the global investment ecosystem. Expanding Global Networks through Awards and Business Engagement: Busan MICE in August In August, Busan MICE actively expanded its global network through international marketing activities and business engagements in key markets across Malaysia and China. At M&C Asia Connections 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Busan showcased its strengths as an incentives destination and was named the winner of the Best Incentives Destination (Asia) category at the 2026 M&C Asia Stella Awards. In Beijing, China, Busan hosted its first dedicated MICE roadshow in 11 years, bringing together around 100 representatives from local travel agencies, online travel agencies (OTAs), and MICE-related companies. The event provided an opportunity to showcase Busans MICE infrastructure and diverse tourism experiences while strengthening business connections in the Chinese market.
