Ilgwang Beach in Gijang-gun, Busan, is a beloved beach known for its wide sandy shore and calm seascape. With the opening of Busan’s beaches in July, visitors can now enjoy swimming at Ilgwang Beach as well. On the right side of Ilgwang Beach, a coastal deck trail extends to Hak-ri Breakwater, where lies a hidden seaside walking path known only to locals. Here is a relaxing course that is great for both swimming and a breezy stroll along the coast.

Ilgwang Beach is about a 15-minute walk from Exit 2 of Ilgwang Station. It is not as large as some of Busan’s other beaches, but its cozy, quaint scenery transitions from urban views to a small fishing village, making it a great beach for visitors of all ages.

Although smaller in scale, Ilgwang Beach also offers various exciting activities such as duck boats and water sports. Along the beach, you will also find a plethora of food options—including long-standing Ilgwang restaurants serving haemultang (spicy seafood stew), daegutang (codfish stew), and anchovy ssambap (leaf wraps with rice). Ilgwang Beach is full of things to enjoy beyond swimming.

Walking to the right side of the beach will take you to the entrance of the deck trail. The greatest charm of the deck trail is that it tracks along the sea, making you feel as if you are walking over the water. The open East Sea, coastal cliffs, and green pine forest blend together to offer a unique view in each season, and there are lookout spots along the trail where you can stop to rest.

The slope is gentle, and the path is well-maintained, allowing everyone from young children to older adults to walk comfortably.
