One of the most attractive things about Busan is that you can meet the blue sea that refreshes your mind anywhere. Gamjihaebyeon Beach is one of top locations for scuba diving, and it is also popular as an educational place for beginners. I suggest taking a walk in Taejongdae Park and enjoying its scenery after seeing the mysterious underwater world through scuba diving.
Best place for scuba diving, Taejongdae Gamji Haebyeon Beach
Gamji Haebyeon Beach is a small beach which stretches 270m and is 40m wide with cute pebbles spreading out, providing a beautiful coastal view. It is a diving point where divers of all levels can enjoy the clear, deep waters.
Gamji Haebyeon Beach has about 10 diving shops where you can borrow equipment and use changing rooms and showers. There are scuba diving trainings and experiences for beginners, so anyone is welcome to try diving.
Diving lessons for beginners are taught one on one, and everything from putting on gear to diving training is carefully supervised. To dive at Gamji Haebyeon Beach, wear all your gear at the diving shop and then just take your flippers to the beach. Although your scuba diving gear weighs between 15 and 30 kilograms, you can jump into the water in no time since it is about 50 meters away.
Before diving into the sea, you should take time to get used to the water and gear. In order to breathe while wearing a mask on your face and a respirator in your mouth, you have to get used to breathing through your mouth instead of your nose. Divers can enjoy all the beautiful scenery inside and outside the sea while diving in the emerald-green waters of Gamji Haebyeon Beach, and there are a lot of tiny marine creatures to see in the sea. While snorkeling allows you to look into the sea at the surface, scuba diving allows you to go in the water deep down, so divers go into the sea at depths of five to ten meters or more, which is what makes scuba diving special.
After the diving class, the instructor gives feedback while you relax in the diving shop. Thanks to the special clothing that protects your body temperature, you can enjoy scuba diving at Gamji Haebyeon Beach all year round.
Taejongdae Ferry departing from Gamji Haebyeon Beach
At Gamji Haebyeon Beach, there is a pier for a ferry that goes around Taejongdae. There is something special about seeing Taejongdae Park and Gamji Haebyeon Beach from the sea, so I encourage you to give it at least a try.
Best places to take a walk
Taejongdae Park is a good place for a walk. It is always crowded with many visitors because you can enjoy beautiful scenery all year round. You can take a walk along the promenade or ride in the Danubi train. Travelling by Danubi train is convenient because there are train stops near major attractions like observatory, Taejongsa Temple, and lighthouse. The beauty of the Taejongdae Park in Busan is that you can see both the lush green forest and the awesome seascapes that surround it at the same time.
Among the many attractions in Taejongdae, 'Taewon Pebble Beach' is the one that is least known and hidden. Along with Gamji Haebyeon Beach, this is where the TV series 'Pachinko' is filmed. You can see Taewon Pebble Beach from the observatory as well as the emerald sea, and the scenery is breathtaking. If you walk down stairs, you can walk through the filming location of 'Pachinko' and take photos. In the distance, you will see an anchoring basin where large ships are anchored.
Taking the side road through the dense forest before going down the stairs will lead you to a place where you can see the Taewon Pebble Beach and the cliffs. You might want to take a lot of pictures here as well.
You can enjoy beautiful scenery while diving or taking a walk in Taejongdae. You should visit Taejongdae and Gamji Haebyeon Beach when travelling Yeongdo Island in Busan.
