People travel around the country to see and enjoy various things, but the best part of any trip is food!
While there are unique gourmand alleys in each region, there are also some in Busan.
Here are three gourmand alleys in my neighborhood and I will also introduce you the nearby tourist sites.
Choryang-dong Grilled Pork Galbi Alley
There's no doubt that Choryang is famous for Beef Bulgogi Set Menu, but did you know that it's also known for Grilled Pork Galbi Alley?
Along Choryangcheon Stream near Exit No. 1 of Choryang Station, there are several narrow alleys, including Grilled Pork Galbi Alley. There is a signboard at the entrance to the alley, so you won’t get lost.
There are many Grilled Pork Galbi places lined up in the narrow alley. You just have to look around and find an empty seat at any place you like.
As soon as I took a seat, I ordered Grilled Pork Galbi! Fresh leaf wraps and side dishes were nicely served first! Grilled Pork Galbi that was served after a while looked so good. The sound of sizzling Galbi made my mouth water. Lettuce wraps with side dishes and a slice of grilled Galbi on top of it made me feel so satisfied.

At the end of the meal, I ordered Soybean Paste Jjigae. I finished the meal with mildly seasoned Soybean Paste Jjigae with rice. Don’t forget to take a walk around a redecorated Choryangcheon Stream. Because of the rain forecast, the lights were not lit on on this day, but they are turned on over the river at night, making it a great place to take the pic of the day.
Busan Station is close to Choryang Pork Rib Alley, so you might want to stop there at the beginning or the end of your itinerary. You should visit Choryang Ibagu-gil, which preserves the charm of Busan’s original downtown area, along with the monorail and Hillside Road.
Address: 197-44, Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, Republic of Korea
Parking: There are many private parking lots nearby.
Bupyeong-dong Beef Tripe Alley
Walk about 5 minutes from the alley next to Shinhan Bank near Exit No. 3 of Jagalchi Station on Subway Line No. 1. You can easily find it right next to Bupyeong Kkangtong Market, one of Busan's famous tourist sites.
While it's quiet during the day, at night it's crowded with so many people that you would have a hard time finding an empty spot.
You can wait for a seat at the place you like, and a seat was available just in time, so I was able to sit down.
I ordered Marinated Beef Tripe! Medium-sized Beef Tripe was just right for 2 adult males. Soon, the dish came out, and it was visually mouth-watering. There were assorted side dishes that go well with the main dish. I ate the tripe as soon as it was cooked. The place was quite crowded but perhaps that made the food taste even better.
Another reason I ordered Marinated Beef Tripe was to eat fried rice. You must make fried rice after you eat the tripe. Seasoning sauce, laver flakes, and fragrant sesame oil are combined to create fried rice that is so delicious that you will forget you ate the tripe earlier. After waiting for the rice to stick to the bottom of the stone plate, I scraped them off and ate them.
You can’t make fried rice if you order Salt-grilled Beef Tripe, so if you want to make fried rice, you should order Marinated Beef Tripe or Beef Tripe Hot Pot.
You can take a walk around Bupyeong Kkangtong Market nearby Beef Tripe Alley before or after eating. It is a modernized traditional market that offers many things to see and eat, and each alley in the market provides different experience.
Address: Junggu-ro 23beon-gil, Jung-gu, Busan
Parking: After parking at Jagalchi public parking lot, we recommend visiting on foot.
Suan-dong Inshore Hagfish Alley
Go straight into the alley between the pharmacy and the oriental medicine clinic in front of Exit No. 7 of Suan Station on Incheon Metro Line No. 4, turn right at the first intersection, and you’ll see Hagfish Alley. There are many Inshore hagfish (gomjangeo) places lined up on both sides of the long alley. It has been a while since I’ve visited, and now it has a cute name called Kkomnidan Street.
I went into a place that looked cool because it was a very hot day. I ordered Marinated Inshore Hagfish to make fried rice at the end of the meal! Side dishes like Chilled Cucumber Soup, Salad, and Pickled Onions were served. You can hear a sizzling sound of Marinated Inshore Hagfish. Once you try it, you will fall in love with its unique crunchy texture and spicy flavor.
You can enjoy it with vegetables or vegetable wraps according to your preference. This will be your best Inshore Hagfish in your life. And you should never miss fried rice.
There are many tourist sites near Suan-dong. You can take a look around Busan's largest Joseon Dynasty building, Dongnae-bu Magistrate's Office. You can also have fun at another traditional market, Dongnae Market, nearby the Dongnae-bu Magistrate's Office.
