You can feel a calm and cozy atmosphere along with a welcoming, pleasant scent upon entering the candle-making workshop at 609 Cheongnyeon Mall in Gukje Market. Among the cute and unique souvenir displays, various handmade scented candles with the theme “Carry Your Busan” will catch your attention. In addition to candles, other fragrance products such as fabric mists, air fresheners, and diffusers attract visitors.

People start to gather for the one-day handmade candle making class. The basic ingredients are all included in the trial cost, and the containers for making the candles vary in size and material—from soju and wine glasses to cylinders.

Candle making simply begins with applying sand to the bottom of the container and decorating the inside. You can have a Busan sea motif or an under-the-sea design. If you’re having trouble with your first candle, you can refer to the premade designs.

Diverse scents are available such as Black Cherries, White Jasmine Mint, Little Forest, and Soft Waters. Melt the gel wax with the fragrance, and pour it into a nicely decorated container. Wait for the first wax to harden and pour the second colored wax to complete the candle! Attach a sticker to your finished candle.
