Suyeong Historical Park is located in the site that accommodated the Headquarters of the Gyeongsangjwa-do Naval Force Commander, which guarded the southern coast in the Joseon period. “Suyeong” comes from the abbreviation of the Naval Force Commander in the Korean alphabet and has been the name of the place since then.

In spite of its historic symbol, the park—with peaceful paths under the shade of tree canopies—is the perfect place in the city for citizens to stroll around and have some time to heal. Its outdoor theater holds regular events of Intangible Cultural Heritage performances, such as Suyeong Yaryu (masked play).
