The Busan International Dance Festival, hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City, is one of the city’s signature performing arts festivals, held in early June on Haeundae Beach.
Since its launch in 2005, the festival has become one of Korea’s longest-running and most popular contemporary dance events.
Over the past two decades, artists from more than 60 countries across Asia, Europe, North and South America, the Middle East, Oceania, and Africa have taken part, with over half a million audience members from around the world.
This year, the 21st Busan International Dance Festival will feature a ticketed performance of Carmina Burana by the world-renowned Szeged Contemporary Dance Company, staged at the Busan Cinema Center’s Haneulyeon Theater. (See official website for details.)
Audiences can also enjoy a variety of vibrant performances by dance companies from over 10 countries via the special stage at Haeundae Beach.
